5 keys to integrating your psychedelic journey

by Quddus Philippe

Integrating a psychedelic journey can be a non-linear and confusing process. Here’s what could help you land the plane and live into your next level.

1. Comprehension

Proper comprehension and honoring what you experienced is essential to making the most of your journey. Making space for stillness and crystallizing your insights can make the difference. I recommend quality time in nature (away from your phone) to meditate and write in a stream of consciousness to this simple prompt: What did you experience in the journey and what does it point to for what’s next for you?

2. Energy Calibration

Psychedelic work can also bring feelings to the surface that have been suppressed. As more feelings surface, it’s important to continue feeling them and being more aware of how to work with your energy. When live sound is a part of your journey a lot can be cleared in the process. This makes way for new energy and new parts of you to come through. A key to properly channeling this new energy is working with an energetic practice like yoga or breathwork.

3. Your Body as a Temple

An elevated relationship with your body is essential. As you move through this process, your body may become even more sensitive to what you put into it. Be mindful that everything you consume either supports your vitality or pulls you away from it. You may find yourself craving healthier foods and habits. Meanwhile, if you've been consuming things like sugar, alcohol, or cigarettes, this is a beautiful moment to let them go. You may even notice that coffee or cannabis no longer feel necessary.

4. Leveraging Neuroplasticity

Sometimes the greatest gift from a psychedelic journey is seeing how a pattern of yours played out — even in a process that is meant to dismantle it. And because of the benefits of neuroplasticity after a journey – more lasting change is possible. We recommend identifying one habit you know it’s time to let go of and one new habit you want to develop in its place. What’s one thing you’re clear isn’t serving you anymore? And what’s one thing you’ve felt inspired to bring more of into your life?

5. Community + Connection

Comparing your journey is a recipe for diminishing what you can honor about it. Being mindful of who you share your experience with and how you share about it is important. Not everyone will hold your experience with the reverence it deserves and provide the kind of listening that can encourage what’s trying to emerge. Ideally, you can stay connected with someone you were in the experience with orloop in the kind of friend who can be a real thought partner. This level of psychedelic work has a way of continuing to unfold over time and having ongoing support to go beyond your subjective perspective is important. Showing up for our psychedelic integration call or working with a professional in transformation is recommended.

In Conclusion

A psychedelic journey isn’t one stop shop for transformation but it does give you an opening and possibility for something new. What you do after the journey and as you return to your day to day is ultimately what will define the success of it. I hope these recommendations make a difference for you.
